The Band That Murdered Silence Biography:
This is a brief telling of how we became who we are.
I had released a solo album under the name Colin Jesse Spring in 1998.
It was a real home grown project with screened covers printed
on hand folded cardboard. It was called Dashboard Tallies, Pedestrian Kills and it's
modest presentation and instrumentation garnered some critical
praise most memorably from a notorious local critic who hated
everything but kindly refrained from too harsh a judgement.
That led to some local shows and a couple good opening slots,
one being for Richard Buckner at the Tractor Tavern here in
Seattle.
This eventually led indirectly to the fortune of meeting
Michael Hallett and the two of us began playing shows as a
duo for a couple years. Michael also contributed (amongst
many other fine musicians) to the second solo release, Meet
The Sea or Be Washed Up...
This album also garnered some great critical praise but
sold poorly mostly due to my utter disdain for the exasperating
task of self promotion.
Soon after we began with Fran Hapke on drums and Michael
Serpe as the bass player. Technically Michael started on drums
and we were a trio for a brief while. He eventually left to
dedicate him self more completely to his fine solo material
and was replaced by Nat Scholz.
Although I do most of the writing it is together that we
do the arrangements and together that we began truly developing
our sound, which I feel was not completely discovered with
the first two outings. It is only through their incredible
patience and contributions.
With this line up we have released out latest effort Canion Del Pollo.
Colin is currently working on an additional solo album tentatively titled Tears of Cool. Stay tuned for more on this.
